Describe how you first got interested in snowboarding: Well, I was brought up skiing, then at about the age of 13 or 14 I saw some older kids on a snowboard. I asked my dad if I could try. The next day I rented a board and my dad spent the whole day with me helping me to learn how to carve. So essentially you could say, my dad taught me how to snowboard.

What keeps you snowboarding today? I have no idea, I'm flat broke, my body is destroyed, and it prevents me from living a normal lifestyle, I can't hold a real job and I can't be in a normal relationship, but... on the other hand it's sooo much fun, I get to see the world and it gives me many great cocktail stories.

What do you get up to when you aren't snowboarding? I try to do normal everyday things, hang out with friends, go out for tea at Mogules, play video games (Super Bishi Bashi Champ). I'm a chef in a restaurant called Teppan Village. I play tennis in the summer, and try to hang out at the beach but I usually end up working lots so I can play in the winter.

Describe the perfect day:
Winter
Well first off it would have to be a day that I can sleep in until at least 9:00 am and where I'm not filming (I usually wake up at 5:30am to go sledding with the Sandbox crew and I'm not a morning person). I meet up with my friends at the base of Blackcomb, chill out, have some tea before we head up the mountain to the park. Then the clouds clear out by 11:00 and the park jump lines are mint for the whole day. Head down to Dubh Lynn Gate for some apres and delicious hot wings. Zing! that's a perfect day for me.

Summer
Wake up, make myself a fruit smoothie, grab my snowboard gear and head to 21 steps with my campers (I coach at Camp of Champions) for breakfast at 7:00 am. Be on the chair lift by 8:00 am and enjoy the sun for an hour while we head up to the glacier. It's usually icy at the start of the day, but it usually softens up by 10:00 or 11:00, so I usually take it easy until then.   Grab lunch and then session some hand rails until 3:00 and head down the mountain. On the way down I'll play some chairlift bowling and chairlift golf. Get down, get changed and then head to the beach for a BBQ and some brews with the boys.

Have you had any injuries or situations that have made you re-think your lifestyle? Injuries make me really depressed and I always rethink my entire lifestyle. I get really stressed out. I can deal with the pain, but the mental torment of not being able to ride is the hardest part for me. I end up going crazy. I'll spend a lot of time on the phone with my parents. I also spend a lot of time with my physiotherapist (but his time is expensive).

Contests and freeriding....describe likes and dislikes of both:
Well, what does freeriding really mean?   Riding for fun, well that's the best, no stress, no hassle, good times, noodle salad. Unfortunately, no-one's gonna pay you to freeride, while contests fork out some good cash. But contests are very biased, it always seems like the same people win all the contests whether they ride well or not. But I'm just bitter because can never seem to pull of that Gold medal.

Where do you want to be in 10 years? That's a hard one because ten years is far but it's not so far that I'm not planning for what I'll be doing, so I'll just keep it vague. I'd have to say hopefully by then, I'll own a nice small house near the mountains with a porch, a dog and a barbeque. I'd want to enjoy that with my perfect girl. I don't want to work a lot, perhaps 4 days a week. And I want to have a profession, not a job. Jobs to me are so unsatisfying.
